BLACK MUSIC: Africa Beats - Meet The Hypnotic "Hip Harp" Of Ethiopia's Krar Collective!

June 17, 2013 - ETHIOPIA - The Krar Collective hail from Ethiopia but are based in the UK where they have been making waves with their hypnotic sound.

Their name derives from the traditional krar harp that is central to their music.

Their rhythmic dance movements are an important part of the performance too, thanks to the strings of necklaces worn by female vocalist Genet Asefa.

For Africa Beats, they chose to play a song entitled "Gondar" after the city in north-east Ethiopia where their krar player, Temesgen Zeleke, comes from. - BBC.
